Amy Hawkins
First, I’m the coffee with books gal.
It all began with a conversation about books while I was working as a hairstylist. From there, Turn the Page was born in 2012. TTP was the first blog, from there it became Rebels & Readers, then Rebels & Readers Author Event with Tonya Nagle.
I ended up taking some time away to focus on some major life changes. Since I left Rebels, I have gotten divorced, moved across the country to the beautiful Oklahoma. I’ve gone back to college, met the love of my life, graduated college, switched career fields. Throw in that I’ve sent a kid off to the military, seen 3 graduate high school, working on the 4th now. Plus become a parent to what I thought was a poodle, but is really a princess in disguise.
Now, I have a Bachelors degree in Strategic Communications with a PR focus, and a Masters degree in Strategic Communications and Digital Strategies. I am a marketing coordinator for an architectural and engineering firm based in Lubbock, Texas. I am a Nanny to my gorgeous one year old grand baby. I miss my books and my book community. With that said, welcome to Great Plains Prose.
Alicia Marie
Alicia Marie is a long time book fiend. She prefers wine with her books. A single mom of 3 adult kiddos, and Gammie to 3 stunning grand babies.
She’s a self-proclaimed people hater, but loves books and animals.
Alicia was a super big help to planning and executing events while volunteering with Rebels & Readers, and now she’s helping me out with the reviews, promotions, and event planning at Great Plains Prose.
The Friendship
Amy & Alicia helping me get ready for my wedding - May 2021
Amy & Alicia taking on NYC - Dec 2017
What started as a ride to the theatre to see 50 Shades of Grey, turned into a friendship to last a lifetime. They have been known to sit in the same recliner, share the same clothes, make desserts that only they can eat, and have giant baked cheese parties. These two have been from Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, to Annapolis, Maryland, to New York City, and now to Oklahoma together. The only rules in this friendship is that whoever dies, the other has a laundry list of shit together done.
